France Paris Musee Grevin Entry Tickets Overview
The Musee Grevin is Paris's wax museum, founded in 1882 by journalist Arthur Meyer and sculptor Alfred Grevin on the Boulevard Montmartre in the 9th arrondissement. Meyer wanted Parisians to see the famous people he wrote about at a time when photographs were rare in print; Grevin designed the figures and became the creative director. Over 140 years later the museum holds over 250 wax figures in 12 themed zones and remains one of the most visited attractions in Paris.
The building is as remarkable as its contents. The Palais des Mirages was originally created for the 1900 Universal Exposition as a hall of mirrors and optical illusions; it was acquired and installed at the Grevin and remains operational. The Theatre Grevin is a surviving example of 19th-century theatrical architecture with a gilded ceiling, ornate boxes and a stage that hosts contemporary performances.
The wax figures span categories including French and international cinema, music, world history, sport, politics, science and fashion. In 2026 the museum rebranded its immersive entertainment section as The Incredible Grevin, adding interactive zones alongside the classic wax tableau format. September hours are Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm with last entry at 5 pm. Saturday and Sunday open at 9:30 am until 7 pm with last entry at 6 pm.

The Musee Grevin holds over 250 wax figures spread across 12 themed zones. New figures are added each year through the Academie Grevin, which selects new additions from French and international public life. Figures are replaced or updated when they no longer reflect the current appearance of the person.
The Palais des Mirages is a hall of mirrors originally created for the 1900 Universal Exposition in Paris. It uses a system of mirrors and coloured lighting to create an illusion of infinite repetition of the space. After the exposition it was acquired by the Grevin and has been operational there ever since as one of the oldest surviving immersive attractions in Paris.
The Theatre Grevin is a functioning 19th-century theatre inside the museum, with an original gilded ceiling, ornate private boxes and a stage. It hosts contemporary performances and events and remains one of the best-preserved examples of theatrical architecture from the Belle Epoque period in Paris.
The Incredible Grevin is the name given in 2026 to the museum's immersive entertainment section, which was expanded and rebranded with new interactive zones. It adds digital and participatory elements alongside the classic wax figure tableaux that the museum has been known for since 1882.
The museum includes wax figures of international icons from cinema, music, sport, science and politics including French and global celebrities. Current figures include contemporary stars from entertainment and public life alongside historical figures from Albert Einstein to Napoleon. New additions are announced annually by the Academie Grevin.
Yes. Children under 5 enter free with a paying adult. The museum is suitable for all ages and the combination of the theatrical building, the hall of mirrors and the wax figures engages children and adults differently. The interactive Incredible Grevin zones added in 2026 also appeal to younger visitors.
