Japan Kyoto teamLab Biovortex Kyoto Entry Tickets Overview

teamLab Biovortex Kyoto opened on 7 October 2025 in the Minami-ku district of southern Kyoto, approximately a 7-minute walk from the Hachijo East Gate of Kyoto Station. Covering 10,000 square metres across four floors and featuring over 50 artworks, it is the largest permanent teamLab exhibition in Japan, surpassing both teamLab Borderless and teamLab Planets in scale and scope. By February 2026, just four months after opening, it had already welcomed its 500,000th visitor.

The museum's central concept, Biovortex, distinguishes it from teamLab's other Tokyo locations. Where Borderless focuses on the flow of art between rooms and Planets on physical immersion in water, Biovortex explores the idea that the environment itself, through physical phenomena like light, sound, and biological processes, causes artworks to exist. The concept draws explicitly on the lineage of Japanese traditional aesthetics, particularly the gardens and fusuma sliding door paintings of Kyoto, grounding the digital art in the cultural context of the ancient city surrounding it.

The 50+ artworks include several Kyoto exclusives available nowhere else in the world: Megaliths, Transient Abstract Life and Return, and others making their debut in this museum. Returning favourites from teamLab's global portfolio are also present, including the Forest of Resonating Lamps, Athletics Forest, Future Park, and the Sketch Factory where visitors' drawings are scanned and projected into the artworks. Dynamic pricing applies from approximately ¥3,600 to ¥4,200 depending on the date. The museum closes on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.
