Japan Osaka Universal Studios Japan Entry Tickets

Several attractions have closed at Universal Studios Japan in 2026. Sesame Street 4-D Movie Magic and Shrek's 4-D Adventure both closed permanently from January 2026. Sesame Street Fun World and its children's rides and play areas closed on 10 May 2026. The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is also no longer operating. Always check the current attraction schedule on the official USJ website before your visit as this information continues to update.

Super Nintendo World is the park's flagship land, entered through a warp pipe, recreating the Mushroom Kingdom at full architectural scale. It features Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge, an augmented reality ride layering digital characters over a physical track, and Yoshi's Adventure. The Donkey Kong Country expansion opened in late 2024 adds Mine Cart Madness, a coaster that appears to leap across track gaps. The Power-Up Band allows visitors to play the land like a game.

Universal Studios Japan is located in Konohana ward, Osaka. The most convenient access is the JR Yumesaki Line from Osaka Station (Sakurajima Line) to Universal City Station, approximately 11 minutes, followed by a short walk to the park entrance through Universal CityWalk Osaka. The journey from central Osaka takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. The park can also be reached by Captain Line ferry from Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan.

Yes, USJ has extensive family-friendly offerings. Universal Wonderland features Snoopy and Hello Kitty attractions with gentler experiences. Yoshi's Adventure in Super Nintendo World is ideal for children. Minion Park is consistently popular with all ages. Children under 4 enter free. The park has baby care facilities, nursing rooms, and stroller parking areas. Note that Sesame Street Fun World closed in May 2026 so families who planned on this area should adjust their expectations.

Super Nintendo World uses a timed entry system. A standard Studio Pass gives park admission but not automatic guaranteed entry to Super Nintendo World on busy days. Free Area Timed Entry Tickets are available through the official USJ app after entering the park. These can fill within minutes of park opening on peak days. A Universal Express Pass that includes Super Nintendo World timed entry removes this uncertainty and is strongly recommended on busy days.

Essential attractions include Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge and Mine Cart Madness in Super Nintendo World, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in the Wizarding World, The Flying Dinosaur (face-down flying coaster), Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Hollywood Dream The Ride, and the legendary Jaws boat ride unique to USJ after all other Universal parks closed their versions. The Discover U!!! parade and Universal Cool Japan 2026 events are also recommended.

Universal Express Pass is a separate purchase from the standard Studio Pass that allows holders to skip standby queues at specified attractions via a dedicated priority lane. Multiple versions are available, covering different combinations of rides. On peak days in 2026, queue times for Mario Kart and Forbidden Journey regularly exceed 90 minutes without Express Pass. Booking Express Pass well in advance is strongly recommended as it sells out on popular dates.

The Discover U!!! celebration runs from 4 March 2026 through 30 March 2027, marking Universal Studios Japan's 25th anniversary since opening on 31 March 2001. It includes the new Discover U!!!
