The Night Safari at Mandai Wildlife Reserve is the world's first nocturnal wildlife park, opened in 1994. Covering 40 hectares of secondary rainforest in northern Singapore, it is home to over 900 animals representing approximately 100 species across seven geographical zones. It has won Singapore's Best Attraction Experience award 13 consecutive times and is one of the most unique wildlife experiences in Asia.

The Safari Adventure Tram is the most popular way to explore the Night Safari, a 45-minute guided open-air tram ride with live audio commentary passing through all seven geographical zones of the park. Trams depart approximately every 15 minutes from 19:00 and can accommodate up to 60 passengers. The tram passes within close range of lions, Asian elephants, giraffes, Malayan tapirs, and dozens of other nocturnal species in open, naturalistic enclosures.

The Creatures of the Night show is a 20-minute live wildlife presentation at the Night Safari Amphitheatre featuring nocturnal animal ambassadors including Asian small-clawed otters, fennec foxes, binturongs, and other species demonstrating their natural behaviours. Shows run nightly at 19:30, 20:30, and 21:30. On weekends and public holidays an additional 22:30 show may be added. Seats are available on a first-come-first-served basis and should be secured well in advance of each show.

The Night Safari entrance gates open at 18:30 for dining and retail. Admission to the wildlife park begins at 19:15 and runs until midnight with last entry at 23:15. The Safari Adventure Tram and walking trails begin operating from 19:00. The Creatures of the Night show runs at 19:30, 20:30, and 21:30 at the amphitheatre just inside the main entrance.

The four self-guided walking trails at Night Safari are the Leopard Trail, offering encounters with leopards, fishing cats, and other Asian predators; the Fishing Cat Trail through recreated Singapore jungle; the East Lodge Trail featuring aardvarks, Malayan tigers, and large Asian mammals; and the Wallaby Trail in the Australasian zone. Each trail takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes and reveals animals and environments not accessible from the tram.

Allow a minimum of 2.5 to 3 hours for a complete Night Safari experience including the Creatures of the Night show, the Safari Adventure Tram, and at least one walking trail. Most visitors spend 3 to 4 hours at the park, particularly when exploring multiple walking trails. Arriving at 19:00 and allowing until at least 22:00 gives the most comprehensive experience including all three elements.

The Night Safari is located at 80 Mandai Lake Road, Singapore 729826. The most convenient public transport option is the Mandai Khatib Shuttle, a dedicated bus service running from Khatib MRT station on the North-South Line directly to the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. The journey takes approximately 10 minutes. Taxis and Grab services provide direct drop-off at the Night Safari entrance. Buses 138 and 927 also serve the area.

Yes, the Night Safari is a wonderful and memorable experience for families. Children under 3 enter free. The complimentary tram ride means young children do not need to walk the full park. Parents should be aware that the park operates in near-darkness and some younger children may find the atmospheric lighting unsettling. Bringing insect repellent is strongly recommended for the whole family. The walking trails are generally stroller-friendly with wide, well-marked paths throughout.
