Singapore Zoo Entry Tickets Overview
Nestled in 28 hectares of lush tropical rainforest in the Mandai area of north-western Singapore, Singapore Zoo has been ranked as the world's best rainforest zoo and is one of Asia's most celebrated wildlife destinations. Opened in June 1973 as part of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, the zoo pioneered the concept of open enclosures without visible cages, using moats, water features, and natural vegetation to create barriers that allow animals to be viewed in expansive naturalistic settings that closely resemble their wild habitats.
The zoo's collection of over 4,200 animals across more than 300 species is organised into distinctive themed zones, each recreating a different ecosystem or geographical region. The Fragile Forest is a 20,000-cubic-metre biodome where free-roaming butterflies, crowned pigeons, lemurs, and flying foxes move through a simulated rainforest environment with visitors. Orangutan Island features a free-ranging group of Bornean orangutans in a setting that allows natural behaviour including brachiating through the treetops directly above the boardwalk. Wild Africa brings together white rhinoceroses, giraffes, zebras, and African elephants in expansive savannah-style enclosures. RepTopia showcases over 60 species of reptiles and amphibians in dramatic themed environments.
New for 2026, Exploria is one of Southeast Asia's largest indoor nature-themed multimedia attractions, using immersive digital technology to transport visitors to rarely seen natural realms from prehistoric eras to microscopic ecosystems. Every standard ticket includes complimentary unlimited tram rides. Daily animal presentations including Splash Safari, Rainforest Fights Back, and Animal Friends add entertainment and education throughout the day. Book your tickets online to save on gate prices.
Know Before You Go
Allow a minimum of 4 hours for a thorough visit and ideally a full day to experience all the zones, presentations, and feeding sessions comfortably
Arrive at opening time at 08:30 as animals are most active in the cooler morning hours before midday heat reduces their activity, and the first animal presentations begin from 10:30
The entire Mandai Wildlife Reserve is a cashless precinct so ensure you have a suitable card or mobile payment method before arriving as cash is not accepted anywhere on site
The complimentary tram ride included with every ticket is an efficient way to navigate between zones and is particularly recommended for families with young children and visitors who want an overview before exploring on foot
Book your Singapore Zoo tickets online in advance to save up to 15 percent on gate prices and note that animal feeding sessions for giraffes, elephants, rhinoceroses, and giant tortoises must be booked separately online as slots are strictly limited and sell out very quickly
