Alton Towers Resort Entry Tickets Overview
Spread across 500 acres of beautiful Staffordshire countryside around the ruins of the historic Alton Towers Gothic mansion, Alton Towers Resort is the UK's largest and most beloved theme park and one of the most visited attractions in Britain. Founded in 1980 and owned by Merlin Entertainments, the resort combines world-class thrill rides with family-friendly attractions, beautifully landscaped gardens, and immersive themed areas that create an extraordinary full-day experience for visitors of every age.
The resort's roller coaster line-up is unrivalled in the UK. Nemesis Reborn, the completely reimagined version of the legendary inverted coaster, delivers an intensified experience with smoother track and spectacular theming. The Smiler holds the world record for most inversions on any roller coaster with 14 loops, corkscrews, and barrel rolls. Oblivion drops riders 65 metres straight down into a dark underground tunnel. Wickerman, the world's first wooden rollercoaster to feature fire effects, rounds out one of the most impressive thrill ride collections in Europe.
New for 2026, Bluey the Ride launches in CBeebies Land, becoming the world's first Bluey ride, adding to an already exceptional family offering. Book your Alton Towers Resort tickets online in advance to save significantly on gate prices and secure your preferred visit date.

FAQs
Scarefest is Alton Towers' hugely popular Halloween event running from late September through to early November. The resort transforms after dark with terrifying scare attractions, live entertainment, and the park's world-class rollercoasters operating in the dark until 21:00. In 2026 Scarefest features two brand-new scare experiences alongside returning favourites. Separate scare attraction tickets are required in addition to park entry.
Alton Towers has seven world-class rollercoasters. The headline attractions are Nemesis Reborn (reimagined inverted coaster), The Smiler (world record 14 inversions), Oblivion (65-metre vertical drop), Wicker Man (wooden coaster with fire effects), Galactica (virtual reality flying coaster), Rita (0 to 60 mph launch coaster), and Runaway Mine Train (family coaster). Toxicator, a new addition for 2026 Scarefest, also features during the Halloween season.
Booking Alton Towers tickets online in advance can save up to 44 percent compared to purchasing at the gate on the day. Midweek dates during non-school-holiday periods offer the lowest prices. Prices increase closer to the visit date so booking as early as possible is the best strategy for the most significant savings.
Yes, Alton Towers has an excellent range of family attractions alongside its thrill rides. CBeebies Land, Gangsta Granny: The Ride, Sharkbait Reef by SEA LIFE, the historic gardens, and the Skyride gondola are all ideal for younger visitors. Children under 90 centimetres in height enter the theme park free, making it excellent value for families with toddlers.
2026 sees the launch of Bluey the Ride in CBeebies Land, becoming the world's first Bluey-themed ride. The attraction includes meet-and-greet experiences with the Heeler family and a live experience within Big Fun Showtime. Scarefest 2026 also introduces two brand-new scare attractions, Edge of the Forest and Dark Hollow, alongside the returning fan favourites.
CBeebies Land is the UK's only dedicated theme park area based on the BBC's popular CBeebies children's television channel. It features rides, live shows, and character meet-and-greets based on beloved CBeebies programmes. In 2026 it is home to the world's first Bluey the Ride and attracts families with children aged approximately 2 to 8 years old.
