USA Museum of the City of New York Entry Tickets Overview

The Museum of the City of New York has been collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of New York City since its founding in 1923. Located at 1220 Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street on Museum Mile in East Harlem, it holds over 750000 objects spanning photography, paintings, costumes, furniture, toys, film, theatre, prints and personal archives.

The permanent exhibition New York at Its Core traces the city's history from a small Dutch trading settlement in the early 17th century to the global centre it is today. The exhibition uses objects, photographs, video installations and first-person testimonies to move through the periods of immigration, industrial expansion, political conflict, cultural explosion and reinvention that shaped the city across four centuries.

Temporary exhibitions rotate throughout the year covering New York in specific periods, stories of individual communities, the city's architecture and design, and its relationship with fashion and popular culture. Standard hours are Monday to Friday 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday to Sunday 10 am to 6 pm. Wednesday evenings in summer extend to 9 pm with free admission for all visitors.
