One World Observatory New York Entry Tickets Overview

One World Observatory occupies floors 100 to 102 of One World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. At 1268 feet it is the highest observation deck in New York City. One World Trade Center was built adjacent to where the Twin Towers stood and rises to exactly 1776 feet, the year of American independence.

The experience begins with the SkyPod elevator, a 47-second ascent to floor 100 during which the walls display a time-lapse of New York City growing from a colonial settlement to the present skyline. The three observation floors at the top give 360-degree views across a 45-mile radius. The Sky Portal on floor 100 is a circular glass disc set into the floor giving a direct downward view to the streets of Lower Manhattan far below. The City Pulse exhibit uses real-time data to show the activity of the city from above.

The view from One World Observatory is distinct from every other deck in New York. Looking south across the harbour you see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island with the open Atlantic beyond. The Brooklyn Bridge spans the East River to the east. No other deck in the city combines this harbour view with the full island of Manhattan in a single sweep.

FAQs

1What are the opening hours of One World Observatory?

One World Observatory is open daily from 9 am to 9 pm. The last SkyPod elevator departs approximately 45 to 60 minutes before closing, around 8 to 8:10 pm. The observatory is open every day including public holidays though hours may vary slightly on certain dates.

2What is the SkyPod elevator?

The SkyPod elevator ascends from the lobby to floor 100 in approximately 47 seconds. During the ascent the walls of the elevator display a time-lapse showing New York City evolving from a colonial harbour settlement in the 1600s to the present day skyline.

3What makes One World Observatory different from other NYC decks?

One World Observatory is the only major observation deck in New York with an unobstructed southern view across the harbour including the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the open Atlantic. It is also the highest deck in the city at 1268 feet and the most historically significant.

4What is the Sky Portal?

The Sky Portal is a circular glass disc set into the floor of floor 100. Standing on it gives a direct downward view through the glass to the streets of Lower Manhattan 1268 feet below. It is one of the most visceral floor experiences at any observation deck in New York.

5What is the significance of One World Trade Center's height?

One World Trade Center rises to exactly 1776 feet, the year of American independence. The building was designed and constructed on the site adjacent to the original Twin Towers as a deliberate statement of renewal and resilience after the September 11 attacks.

6How do I get to One World Observatory?

The visitor entrance is on the West Plaza at the corner of West Street and Vesey Street in Lower Manhattan. The closest subway stations are WTC Cortlandt on the 1 line, World Trade Center on the E line and Fulton Street on the A, C, J, Z, 2, 3, 4 and 5 lines.

7Is One World Observatory suitable for families?

Yes. Children under 6 enter free. The SkyPod elevator time-lapse is engaging for all ages and the Sky Portal glass floor is a memorable experience for children. The fully indoor climate-controlled format makes it comfortable regardless of outside weather.

8What is the best time to visit One World Observatory?

The hour before sunset offers the best combination of daylight views and the transition to the illuminated evening cityscape. Weekday mornings from 9 am are the least crowded. Sunset and early evening slots on weekends sell out quickly so advance booking is essential for those times.
