SUMMIT One Vanderbilt Entry Tickets Overview
Opened in October 2021 on the 91st through 93rd floors of One Vanderbilt, a 93-floor supertall skyscraper directly adjacent to Grand Central Terminal in Midtown Manhattan, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt has redefined what a New York observation experience can be. Interior spaces were conceived by the globally acclaimed Snøhetta design studio, transforming three floors into a seamlessly layered world of mirrored infinity rooms, immersive light art, suspended glass ledges, and unobstructed panoramic views that together create something genuinely unlike any other rooftop in the city.
The experience unfolds across three distinct spaces. SUMMIT AIR, designed by artist Kenzo Digital, occupies floors 91 and 92 and envelops visitors in two floors of floor-to-ceiling mirrors that reflect the Manhattan skyline in every direction, dissolving the boundary between interior space and the city outside. SUMMIT LEVITATION on floor 92 features two glass-floored ledges that extend directly over Madison Avenue 1,063 feet below, placing visitors literally suspended above one of the world's most iconic streets. SUMMIT ASCENT is the exterior glass elevator that climbs the outside of the building to the summit at floor 93, delivering a heart-stopping vertical ascent with the full sweep of Midtown spread out below.
Après, the sky-high café at SUMMIT, serves cocktails, coffee, and light fare and is open from Wednesday through Sunday, making it an outstanding choice for a sunset cocktail 1,063 feet above the city. Named North America's Leading Tourist Attraction at the 2024 World Travel Awards, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is the most acclaimed addition to the New York City skyline in years. Book your tickets now and experience Manhattan from a perspective that changes the way you see the city.
Know Before You Go
Note that SUMMIT is closed on Tuesdays and on select blackout dates including January 1, July 4, Thanksgiving, December 25, and December 31, so always check the official website before booking your preferred date
Book your SUMMIT One Vanderbilt tickets online well in advance as timed entry is required and popular sunset slots between 45 and 60 minutes before dusk sell out days ahead especially during peak season from May to September
Wear pants, shorts, or tights rather than skirts or dresses as the mirrored floors throughout the experience reflect everything below, and flat shoes with non-marking soles are required as stiletto heels, steel-toe boots, and sports cleats are not permitted on the glass floors
SUMMIT is not accessible through the main One Vanderbilt office lobby and the entrance is located at 45 East 42nd Street on the dedicated SUMMIT entrance, so arrive at the correct door and allow 10 minutes before your timed entry slot
From May 22, 2026 the opening time moves earlier to 08:00 so early morning visits before the Midtown crowds build are available from late May onwards for the clearest and most peaceful experience

FAQs
First-time visitors are recommended to visit during the day for the clearest views of Manhattan's landmarks including Central Park, the Empire State Building, and the Chrysler Building. Returning visitors or those seeking a romantic experience should visit after dark when the illuminated city skyline creates a spectacular panorama. For the best of both, booking a slot 45 to 60 minutes before sunset allows visitors to experience the transition from daylight to night in one visit.
SUMMIT AIR is the first immersive space encountered at SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, occupying floors 91 and 92. Designed by artist Kenzo Digital, it features two floors of floor-to-ceiling mirrors that reflect the Manhattan skyline in every direction, creating a disorienting and breathtaking infinity effect that dissolves the boundary between the interior and the city outside. It is considered one of the most photographed experiential art installations in New York City.
SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is located at 45 East 42nd Street in Midtown Manhattan, directly beside Grand Central Terminal. The most convenient subway connections are the 4, 5, 6, 7, and S trains to Grand Central 42nd Street station, all within a 2-minute walk of the dedicated SUMMIT entrance. Note that the SUMMIT entrance is separate from the main One Vanderbilt office lobby so arriving at 45 East 42nd Street specifically is essential.
SUMMIT ASCENT is an exterior glass elevator on the facade of One Vanderbilt that climbs the outside of the building to the summit at floor 93. Riders are exposed to a heart-stopping vertical ascent with the full Manhattan skyline spreading out below as the elevator rises, providing a perspective of the city that is available nowhere else in New York. ASCENT is included in the standard admission ticket and is one of the signature elements that sets SUMMIT apart from every other NYC observation deck.
