Several significant additions opened at Walt Disney World in 2026. Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is a new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom. The Walt Disney Studios area at Hollywood Studios opened in phased form from May 26, 2026, transforming the former Animation Courtyard into a tribute to Disney animation. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run received a permanent retheme featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was reimagined as a Muppets-themed experience. Animal Kingdom welcomed Bluey's Wild World at Conservation Station. Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom is closing July 6, 2026 for a major overhaul scheduled to reopen in 2027.

Disney Genie+ is a paid service available through the My Disney Experience app that provides Lightning Lane access to most popular attractions, allowing guests to bypass the standby queue. It is priced per person per day and can be purchased on the day of your visit or in advance. On busy days and for first-time visitors who want to maximize the number of rides in a day, Genie+ is widely regarded as worthwhile, particularly at Magic Kingdom where it provides access to Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Individual Lightning Lane passes for the highest-demand attractions including Tron Lightcycle Run and Avatar Flight of Passage must be purchased separately.

Walt Disney World Resort has two water parks. Disney's Typhoon Lagoon is themed around a fictional storm-ravaged tropical paradise and features one of the largest surf pools in the world, a lazy river, and a range of family and thrill water slides. Disney's Blizzard Beach is themed as a melting ski resort and is built around Mount Gushmore, with chairlift access to its tallest and fastest slides. Both water parks operate seasonally and their hours vary. Water park admission is separate from theme park tickets and is not included in standard park entry, though some Walt Disney World vacation packages bundle water park access.

Disney Springs is Walt Disney World's open-air shopping, dining, and entertainment district located on the east side of the resort property. It requires no theme park ticket and has no admission charge, and parking in the two Disney Springs garages is free. The district houses over 150 shopping, dining, and entertainment venues including a 24-screen AMC cinema, a range of table-service and counter-service restaurants, the World of Disney flagship store, LEGO, and the new LEVEL99 entertainment venue opening in 2026 with over 60 challenge rooms and a two-story bar. Disney Springs is accessible by resort bus from all Disney hotels and is a popular option for evenings after the parks close.

The Park Hopper option allows guests to visit more than one theme park on a single day, and all-day park hopping is fully restored as of January 2024. It adds a daily fee to the base ticket price. For most first-time visitors planning four to five days, it is not essential as each park comfortably fills a full day. Park Hopper is most valuable for repeat visitors who have already covered the parks individually and want the flexibility to combine visits, for guests staying only two to three days who want to experience all four parks, or for evenings when a guest wants to move to a different park for a specific fireworks show or nighttime event.

Early Theme Park Entry is a benefit available to all guests staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, which allows entry to all four theme parks up to 30 minutes before official opening time. This benefit is available every day of the stay and is the most effective free crowd-management strategy at Walt Disney World. Arriving at Early Entry and heading directly to the highest-demand attractions before the general public enters allows guests to ride Tron Lightcycle Run, Avatar Flight of Passage, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind with significantly shorter waits than at any other point during the day.

Walt Disney World Resort has four theme parks. Magic Kingdom, the original Florida park, is centered on Cinderella Castle and is the single most visited theme park in the world. Walt Disney World's size means that even a single park rewards a full day of exploration, and attempting to visit multiple parks in one day significantly reduces the depth of experience at each. Combining Walt Disney World with Universal Orlando Resort on the same trip typically requires a total trip of eight to ten days.
