La Dolce Alps Highlights
La Dolce Alps Overview
Italy and Switzerland sit next to each other on the map but feel like completely different worlds. Italy is ancient, chaotic, warm, and dense with history that predates most of civilisation. Switzerland is precise, clean, dramatic, and built around mountains that stop every conversation. This 9-day package gives you both, moving through four cities that represent each country at its most essential.
The journey begins in Rome, the Eternal City, where two days are spent inside one of the world's most concentrated collections of history. The Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Vatican, the Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon are all within walking distance of each other. A Hop-On Hop-Off bus covers the city efficiently so you choose what to linger on. From Rome, the route moves north by rail to Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance and home to Michelangelo's David, the Duomo, and the best view in Tuscany from Piazzale Michelangelo.
Venice follows Florence, and nothing quite prepares you for it. The city has no roads. Everything moves by canal, by bridge, or on foot across narrow stone alleys that open without warning onto wide waterfront piazzas. A gondola ride through the Grand Canal puts you inside that world at its most intimate. A half-day excursion to Murano, Burano, and Torcello takes you beyond the main island to the outer lagoon, where glassblowing workshops and painted fishing houses line quiet canals that see far fewer tourists.
The final four days shift to Switzerland and the city of Zurich. The Swiss Pass activates here, covering all public transport across the country. Mount Titlis in Engelberg is the centrepiece: a revolving cable car called Rotair lifts you to 3,020 metres above sea level, where a glacier, an ice cave, and the Titlis Cliff Walk, the highest suspension bridge in Europe, all sit at the top. Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen, the largest waterfall in Europe, completes the Swiss chapter with a fifteen-minute boat ride into the spray at its base. The package ends at Zurich Airport on Day 9.
La Dolce Alps Itinerary
The flight lands at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, a cab picks you up and takes you to your Deluxe hotel in Rome, and the evening is yours to settle in at your own pace.
The Hop-On Hop-Off bus covers Rome across the full day, with the Colosseum and Roman Forum as the anchor stops, and the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and Piazza Navona filling in the rest.
After breakfast, the train north to Florence takes roughly ninety minutes, arriving into a city built almost entirely during the Renaissance, where the Duomo, Piazzale Michelangelo, and the Uffizi Gallery define every sightline.
After breakfast, the train carries you east to Venice, a city with no roads and no cars, where you check into your Deluxe hotel and take a gondola through the Grand Canal as the first proper introduction to the city.
A half-day boat excursion takes you across the Venice Lagoon to Murano for glassblowing workshops, to Burano for the candy-coloured fishermen's houses that line its canals, and to Torcello, the oldest island in the lagoon.
After breakfast, the train crosses into Switzerland and arrives in Zurich, where the Swiss Pass activates for all public transport, and the city's old town, the lakefront, and the first Alpine views set the tone for the days ahead.
The day trip to Engelberg and Mount Titlis is the centrepiece of Switzerland: Rotair, the world's first revolving cable car, lifts you to the summit glacier, where the Titlis Cliff Walk, Europe's highest suspension bridge, stretches across the void above the valley.
The Swiss Pass carries you north to Schaffhausen, where Rhine Falls drops 23 metres across a 150-metre-wide curtain of water, and a fifteen-minute boat ride takes you directly into the spray at its base.
After breakfast, a cab takes you to Zurich Airport for your departure flight home, completing nine days across four cities and two of Europe's most distinct countries.

Know Before You Go La Dolce Alps
Indian passport holders require a Schengen Tourist Visa before entering Italy and Switzerland. Both countries are part of the Schengen Area, so a single visa covers the full trip. Visa fees are not included in the package. Apply at least four to six weeks before travel. Our team provides complete guidance on the application process.
This package starts in Rome and ends in Zurich. International flights are not included. Book your inbound flight to Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) and your outbound flight from Zurich Airport (ZRH). Our team can assist with flight recommendations.
The Swiss Pass (4-day, 2nd class) is included and covers all trains, buses, and boats on the Swiss public transport network. It also gives free or discounted access to several museums and mountain excursions including Titlis.
Inter-city travel in Italy between Rome, Florence, and Venice uses Trenitalia or Italo rail. Journey times are roughly 1.5 hours Rome to Florence and 2 hours Florence to Venice. Seat reservations on high-speed trains are mandatory and are included in the package arrangements.
Rome, Florence, and Venice all require modest dress when entering churches and religious sites. Shoulders and knees must be covered. Carry a light scarf or shawl. Sleeveless tops and shorts are not permitted inside the Vatican, Duomo, or any major basilica.
Venice is a walking city. Wheeled luggage on cobblestones and across canal bridges is very difficult. Pack a compact carry-on or use a backpack-style bag for the Venice nights. Porters and taxis do not operate within the island.
Peak tourist season in Rome and Venice runs April to June and September to October. Book popular attractions including the Colosseum, Vatican Museums, and Uffizi Gallery well in advance. Last-minute queues at these sites can be extremely long.
Tipping is not mandatory in Europe but is appreciated. In Italy, leaving small change at a cafe or rounding up a restaurant bill is standard. In Switzerland, rounding up the bill is the norm. Large tips are not expected.
