Grand Kenya Safari Adventure Highlights
Grand Kenya Safari Adventure Overview
Kenya sits at the top of every serious wildlife traveller’s list, and this 9-day Grand Kenya Safari Adventure covers the three destinations that put it there: Amboseli, Lake Naivasha, and Masai Mara. Each one is different. Together, they give you the full picture of what East Africa actually is.
You arrive in Nairobi, get settled into your Super Deluxe hotel, and start the safari the next morning. Amboseli National Park is where the journey truly begins. The park is famous for its large elephant herds and for one specific view that no camera fully captures: hundreds of elephants moving across open dust with Mount Kilimanjaro filling the sky behind them. Morning and afternoon game drives here also bring lions, cheetahs, zebras, and over 400 bird species into close view.
From Amboseli, the journey moves north into the Great Rift Valley and the freshwater world of Lake Naivasha. A boat ride on the lake puts you among hippos, fish eagles, and pelicans at close range. The following day, a full trip to Lake Nakuru National Park reveals a completely different landscape: thousands of flamingos lining an alkaline shoreline, black and white rhinos in the woodland, and tree-climbing lions resting in yellow fever trees.
The final three nights are spent in Masai Mara National Reserve, the most wildlife-rich ecosystem in Africa. A half-day drive, a full-day drive, and a dawn drive cover the reserve across multiple sessions, giving you repeated chances to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, track the Big Five, or watch a predator hunt play out from metres away. All meals, park fees, game drives, gratuities, and transfers are covered from start to finish.
Grand Kenya Safari Adventure Itinerary
Your flight lands at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. A cab picks you up and takes you to your Super Deluxe hotel in Nairobi. Check in, freshen up, and take the evening at your own pace. Dinner is on your own tonight.
After breakfast, your safari vehicle heads south to Amboseli National Park. You check into your Super Deluxe lodge and go out for an afternoon game drive. The landscape opens into wide dust plains. Elephant herds move across them in large groups. Mount Kilimanjaro sits above it all, close enough to feel real.
You leave before sunrise. The light at this hour is different. Lions are still out from the night. Cheetahs sit high on termite mounds scanning the plain. Elephant families move slowly through the dust. Kilimanjaro turns orange behind them. Breakfast is served back at the lodge.
After breakfast, you drive north through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha. The scenery changes completely. You check into your Super Deluxe lodge beside the lake. In the afternoon, a boat takes you out on the water. Hippos surface around you. Fish eagles call from the fever trees. Pelicans drift past without concern.
Today is a full day at Lake Nakuru National Park. The alkaline lake draws thousands of flamingos to its shores. The pink is hard to describe until you see it. White and black rhinos graze in the acacia woodland nearby. The park’s tree-climbing lions are often spotted resting in yellow fever trees. A full day here does the park real justice.
After breakfast, you drive west across the Rift Valley into the Masai Mara. Check into your Super Deluxe tented camp and head out for a half-day afternoon game drive. The Mara is different from everywhere else. The grassland is vast and open. Wildebeest move in long lines. Predators watch from a distance.
You spend the entire day in the reserve. Packed lunch is served in the bush so you never have to leave. The full day gives you real time in the Mara’s most remote zones. River crossings happen without warning. Lion hunts unfold in the open. Cheetahs run at full speed across the plain. This is what a safari day is supposed to feel like.
One final game drive at first light. The mist is still on the grass. The savannah is quiet and alive at the same time. After breakfast at camp, you head back to Nairobi.
You arrive back in Nairobi in the morning. If time allows, the Giraffe Centre or the Karen Blixen Museum is worth a quick visit. A cab takes you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight home.
